Symposium Origin and Purpose
Founded in 2017, the Young BPW Asia-Pacific Symposium is one of the largest international female leadership forums in Asia and the Pacific. As an iconic international forum, it is expected to provide a deeper and broader communication platform, achieve cross-border, cross-field, and cross-generation transmission, and bring the power of dialogue to the world.
The first Young BPW Asia-Pacific Symposium was held in Singapore; the second in Japan; and the third Young BPW Asia-Pacific Symposium will be hosted by Taiwan. This is one of the first international events since Taiwan's borders were unsealed after the epidemic. Young female entrepreneurs and leaders from various countries in the Asia-Pacific region gather in Taiwan to discuss global trends from the Asia-Pacific region and jointly bring positive influence and changes to the world.
The topic of female leaders has been actively discussed in various circles in recent years. This time, the COVID-19 epidemic and Taiwan's outstanding performance in epidemic prevention have once again made female leaders a topic of conversation. Forbes magazine published an article, " What Do Countries With The Best Coronavirus Responses Have In Common? Women Leaders > lists seven female national leaders who have demonstrated remarkable achievements in crisis management during the outbreak.
The epidemic has impacted the lives of everyone in the world since the end of 2019. Women around the world are also contributing to the recovery of the post-pandemic world. Therefore, we set the theme of this forum as:
“Women Leadership: Thriving In A Post-Pandemic World”
2E & 1C in the post-pandemic era: EDUCATION, ECONOMY, CONNECTION. In-depth discussions from various aspects such as leadership, corporate strategy, technological innovation, art, and education. 1 keynote speech, 3 in-depth forums, to discuss the importance of female leadership in the post-epidemic era with international speakers and more than 200 new-generation women who are willing to become protagonists.
For the two-day Young BPW Asia-Pacific Symposium, we will invite domestic and foreign leaders and opinion leaders in various fields to share their leadership stories, views on business trends, etc., creating an inspiring and diverse forum environment. The event will provide a cross-field, cross-generation industry-government-academia exchange platform for young female leaders and entrepreneurs around the world, and also will allow to conduct in-depth discussions and exchange opinions on various international issues related to the Asia-Pacific.
Encourage more women to shine, build dreams and exert influence in their own fields, and make Asia and the Pacific a more gender-equal, diverse and inclusive region.
International Federation of Business and Professional Women
（BPW）
The International Federation of Business and Professional Women (BPW International) was founded by Dr. Lena Madesin Phillips in 1930. After 92 years of operation, it has become the most influential women's group in the world. It has the consulting membership of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and has considerable influence on the formulation of women's policies by the United Nations. Every year, BPW has an influence on the Commission on Status of Women (CSW), provide advice on different topics, and strive for more rights and space for women. The association also has the European Parliament (European Parliament) qualification. In 1987, BPW was awarded the Peace Messenger Certificate by the United Nations; in 1997, Ms. Esther Hymer, the representative to the United Nations, was selected as one of the three most influential women in promoting the work of the United Nations. As of 2022, BPW member countries are located in more than 100 countries on five continents, and its influence is far-reaching.
The International Association of Professional Women is an international group of high-quality professional women. Members must be women who "run a business with reputation, or have expertise, knowledge and ability". It is arguably the most important and highest quality international women's organization.
The purpose of the International Association of Professional Women is:
1. To Help women find employment and re-employment.
2. To Protect women's rights and interests.
3. To Help women start their own businesses, expand their careers, and increase their professional knowledge.
4. To overcome the limitations imposed on women by society.
5. To Create a work, education, and health environment conducive to women's growth.
In April 2008, the Taiwan International Professional Women's Association had just returned to Taiwan after studying in the United States. Under the initiative of former Vice President Lu Xiulian, who promoted the women's rights movement, it formally applied to the International Professional Women's Association, and in May 2008, On March 29, it was officially recognized by the General Assembly, and a national branch was established in Taiwan, making it the 82nd national branch of the World International Professional Women's Association. After nearly ten years of operation, Taiwan International Professional Women's Association has become Taiwan's most important women's organization.
Expected participating countries
Twenty-six member countries of the Asia-Pacific region of the International Association of Professional Women. The 3rd Asia-Pacific Youth Forum of the International Professional Women's Association will bring together young female leaders and business representatives from all over the world, enriching the entire forum with diverse thoughts and growth backgrounds, encouraging thought and perspectives exchange.
The previous participants spanned across Asia and the Pacific region, mainly from the 26 member countries of the Asia-Pacific region of the International Association of Professional Women, including Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong in Northeast Asia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines in Southeast Asia, and Bahrain in East Asia, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Yemen, United Arab Emirates, India, Nepal, Pakistan in South Asia, Australia and New Zealand in Oceania, etc. In addition, young leaders and entrepreneurs from the United States and Canada in the Americas, Britain, Italy, Denmark in Europe, Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt in Africa and other countries in the world came to participate in the event.
